Sustainable and responsible

A sustainable and locally sourced furniture creation process

More and more furniture is being bought in our country every day, and this obviously has an environmental impact that we cannot ignore. Furniture manufacturing impacts many ecological areas, from the felling of trees for the wood to the transport of the pieces, the impact of the industry, and the chemicals used in certain industrial processes.

With all these steps, it is evident that the manufacture of a table, a wardrobe, a sofa or any other piece of furniture, has a significant impact on our environment.

At 3P Mobel, we are aware of this impact and have always worked to create a process aimed at reducing it as much as possible. That’s why our work system, based on custom design and made-to-order manufacturing, avoids the waste of finished products that other mass-production models often generate. Furthermore, technology allows us to implement optimizations in the manufacturing process that help reduce wood waste and, consequently, the amount of waste we produce. These scraps are then processed to give them a new purpose (such as sawdust).

Another important aspect of our system is the origin of the wood we use. It comes from forests that are controlled and regulated at the Iberian Peninsula level, which avoids long journeys and therefore reduces CO2 emissions and their impact on our atmosphere. And it is harvested using protocols that fully respect forests and natural resources.

Furthermore, the manufacturing of our furniture takes place within the Barcelona metropolitan area, which also allows us to greatly reduce the impact of transport on the delivery of the final product.

Slow Furniture

Our approach to furniture also rejects the “Fast Furniture” concept, coined in reference to “Fast Food” and also adopted in other industrial sectors such as “Fast Fashion.” We don’t believe that our designs and furniture should be trendy products where low cost and rapid design and manufacturing are paramount, destined to be replaced in a short period of time.

On the contrary: our furniture is designed and manufactured to last, both aesthetically and functionally, and to meet present and future needs. That’s why we take great care in our projects, understanding our clients’ needs and working closely with them to design spaces that best complement them. When we design a wardrobe, we ensure it’s as functional as possible. When advising on the layout of a living room, we consider that it will be a place of countless hours of relaxation, leisure, and fun. In a child’s room, we keep in mind that their furniture will see them through various stages of childhood and adolescence. And in a bedroom, rest must coexist with functionality and storage.

And although our furniture is custom-made and usually manufactured specifically for a room, the manufacturing and assembly system, along with the hardware used, allows the furniture to be disassembled and reassembled in other locations. In many cases, we can even offer the possibility of adapting our furniture to other spaces, which is common during moves and relocations.

All our projects are managed with care and a focus on achieving the best possible result, sharing every stage with our clients. This is the essence of our interior design team, which combines design and aesthetics with functionality, advising our clients to create the furniture they desire.

The pillars of our furniture design and manufacturing system

In summary, the main pillars on which our furniture manufacturing process is based, and which allow us to consider it a sustainable process, are the following:

  • Custom furniture design
  • Custom furniture manufacturing
  • Waste reduction through the use of technology
  • High quality and durable woods and furniture
  • Woods of local origin
  • Reduction of distances and emissions in the transport of raw materials and finished products
  • Proximity manufacturing

We are proud of our local and sustainable furniture design and creation process that avoids large-scale, outsourced manufacturing, prioritizing quality and proximity over large-scale, low-cost manufacturing, even in countries without environmental and labor regulations.
